The FREE Summer Movies for 2024 are here and they are part of our ultimate FREE summer activities for kids series!
We love catching up on movies we’ve missed with schedules being so crazy during the school year. And summer films are also a fun way to spend a hot afternoon too! See what’s playing this year at various theaters and save a few dollars with these free and cheap outings that are perfect for kids and families to enjoy together.
Free Summer Movies for 2024
There’s nothing like a cool theater on a hot day and many of the national movie houses are hosting summer kids films this year! Films being featured include new movies along with some old favorites too. A number of the films originated as kids books made into movies (a great way to inspire summer reading time before seeing the film ;).
Don’t want to hit the theaters? Be sure to check out the Amazon FreeTime Unlimited FREE Trial!! Kids ages 3 – 12 will have access to all types of age-appropriate movies, e-books, educational apps & their favorite learning t.v. shows! This is perfect if you’re traveling, at ball games or activities with older kids or want to have some tech options on hand while doing errands.
We’ve included theater links to movie lists so you can see what’s playing along with some related activities and highlights for movie trailers. There will be different schedules for each movie so be sure to find the closest theater near you to check the summer schedule.
Also, try hosting a backyard movie this year! We’ve put up our outdoor movie screen for summer movies and have family movie nights outside on blankets & chairs together!
2024 AMC Summer Movies
Summer movie camp is BACK at AMC Theaters!! After a few year hiatus, the popular theater chain will have movies showing on Mondays and Wednesdays this summer. Movies are $3 per person and showtimes vary depending on theaters so check with your local AMC for more details.
Families can enjoy the following flicks:
June 24th & 26th: Minions: The Rise of Gru (if your kids like this one, check out the 12 Inspiring Movies about Inventors too!)
7/1 – 3: The Lorax
7/7 – 10: Sing
7/17 – 19: Sing 2
7/22 – 24: Secret Life of Pets

Free Summer Movies for Kids Phoenix Theaters
Phoenix Theaters is one again offering totally FREE summer movies for 2024! These theaters have the biggest variety of movies showing this summer (more than 20 different shows!). Films are show at 10 am on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and all ages are welcome. Movies vary by location but will include family favorites like:
- Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse — see the trailer here!!)
- Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation
- Migration
- Lyle, Lyle Crocodile (we’ve got a great list of kids books about crocodiles to go with the film!)
- The Emoji Movie
- Peter Pan
- Smurfs: The Lost Village
- Goosebumps 2 (did you know this was a book too?)
- Sing 2
- Trolls Band Together

2024 Cinemark Summer Movie Clubhouse
Cinemark Summer Movie Clubhouse will have cheap ($1.75) movies every Wednesday from June 19th – August 10th! They will also have discounts on popcorn and drinks during the shows.
Here’s the schedule for their 8 week summer movie deals:
6/10 – 13: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayham
6/17 – 20: Sonic the Hedgehog 2
6/24 – 27: Shrek
7/1 – 7/4: Paw Patrol

Megaplex Theaters Summer Movies
Megaplex Theaters have a “10 movies for $10” ticket available for kids and families. Movies start at 10 am but days vary by location so you’ll need to check this list of 2024 summer movies to see what’s playing each week near you.
Their movies include one stand-out that I don’t see at other theaters:
- Daddy Daughter Trip (see Daddy Daughter Trip trailer)
Along with the following:
- Kung Fu Panda
- Sonic the Hedgehog
- Trolls Band Together
- How to Train Your Dragon
- Despicable Me
- Migration
- Paw Patrol
B&B Theaters Summer Movies
After a short hiatus, B&B Theaters will once again have lower cost Summer Movies in 2024! Showtimes are at 10 am and 12:30 pm with prices at $3 for theater members or $5 for non-members.
B&B will offer movies similar to many of the other theaters. If this is a primary movie chain in your area, see the full list of movies and showtimes here!
Harkins Theater $1 Movies
Harkins Theaters are offering an 8 movies/8 weeks/$8 pass for kids and adults! Or you can pay $2 at the box office.
Some of the highlights for their line up include:
- Migration
- LEO (the only theater that I’ve seen offering this film!)
- Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget

Regal Cinemas Summer Movies
Regal Cinemas Summer Movie Express has not yet updated their website for the 2024 offerings. Previously, they offered $1 movies on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I’ll keep you posted if they continue this summer!
GQT Summer Movies for Kids
The GQT Theaters website doesn’t look like they will offer any summer movies this year. They no longer have a dedicated page.
Marquee Summer Movies for Kids
Marquee Theaters hasn’t yet updated their FREE admission for their summer movie series!! Last year, they offered 9:30 am shows on Tuesdays and Wednesdays with most locations offering 2 movies each day/week!! We’ll keep checking back and update when we hear more details for 2023!
CMX Theaters Summer Movies
We are also waiting to see if Cobb Theaters will offer their summer movies — again, most of their theaters show films at 10 am on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Check back later this summer to see if there’s any updates!
