Both of my kids are huge fans of non-fiction books & stories. When they were younger, neither was interested interested in the fiction readers that came home from school. It was a big struggle to get them to practice reading every night until we learned of their love for nonfiction. They enjoyed reading and learning …
This week’s linky will Discover & Explore Boats, Water Fun & Things that Float!
Kids can explore a number of science and engineering ideas by trying to build their own boat and playing around with the concept of sink and float.
How heavy is an item before it sinks? And what type of materials can be used to make a boat that floats?
What a fun week we had with our Discover & Explore Oceans linky!
There was such a wonderful variety of activities and ideas shared that I thought I would put together a planning kit for your own Under the Sea Party!
We’d like to thank Walmart for sponsoring this post and supplying parents with a great new option for back to school shopping. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Last year, back to school shopping for us was insane! We usually head out a few weeks before school begins to get our supplies but since we decided to take a late vacation (to Rocky Mountain National Park – it was AMAZING!) we were pressed for time.
Once we returned, there was less than a week to get all the school supplies we needed. Here’s a quick summary of how that worked out:
Did you know that March is National Reading Month? It’s a great time to think about what it takes to raise a child who reads and loves books. 5 Tips for Raising a Reader Reading is such an important skill for kids that it deserves some extra attention. Every family needs to decide …
Don’t you just love family vacations?! The opportunity to get away and explore someplace new! The time away from the daily schedule and all the things that need to be done at home 🙂 The packing, unpacking and repacking (ha!) We had some fun posts shared last week at the Discover & Explore Vacations …
It’s back to school time! It’s always a mix of feelings at this time of year — excitment for new classes and seeing friends again, adjustment to school bedtimes and schedules, and a little mourning for the carefree days of summer.
I’m excited to be linking up with a group of great kid bloggers so we can share our back-to-school ideas with you! Below you’ll find some fun ways for both kids & parents to get excited about the new school year.
Getting Involved at School
As a parent, I always look for different ways that I might get involved at my child’s school. When the kids were very young, it was easy to volunteer in the classroom and at school events.
We were involved in a wonderful book exchange program this summer that was coordinated by my friend Kim from The Educator’s Spin on It.
The Summer Book Exchange included 30 bloggers who each chose a great book for summer reading, created some fun activities & crafts to go along with the story and packed it all up in a box to exchange with a ‘surprise’ partner.

Welcome to the ‘Edventures with Kids’ Blog! We’re so happy you’ve stop by to
Discover, Learn & Connect with us. Some of the regular items we’ll
share with you include:
- Exploring Kansas City
We know it’s coming — the heat of summer is creeping in and soon we will all be seeking out the comforts of shade and air-conditioning. For the kids, they would much rather run under a sprinkler or enjoy some ‘cool’ water play!
This week’s feature posts from the Discover & Explore Summer Fun linky won’t disappoint! There are TONS of great ideas for keeping cool on those hot summer days!
