Tips on finding local nature centers and nature activities near you! When I first started to stay home with our kids full-time, I knew that we HAD to get out of the house each week. While I’ll be the first to admit that there are so many fun ways to learn at home, kids quickly …
Enjoy a family night out with classic games to play, a relaxing eating area and food everyone will enjoy. As we head into winter, it’s that time of year when parents scout out more indoor activities to do with their kids. But we want someplace where both kids AND parents can kick-back & unwind …
As I’m sure you’ve heard (with all the store displays and multiple notes coming home from school about upcoming events) — the holidays are coming! To help with your planning, we’ve pulled together a list of all the holiday events and activities around Kansas City for you to use as a reference over the next …
The weather’s getting warmer, the kids are out of school and the farmer’s markets are open — summer is here!
Now that the kids have been on break for a few weeks, the initial excitement of summer has worn off and we are all looking for some fun things to do.
The goal parents: to fight off the dreaded “I’m bored” comment and keep them away from the screen long enough to make a few memories.
And boy do we have a list for you — the Ultimate Kansas City Bucket List for summer fun!
I grew up back east where you could drive for an hour and reach the next big city. That’s not the case in the Midwest; the cities are farther apart and a day trip definately takes a whole day.
But boy are there some wonderful Midwest cities to visit!

Learn about some of the great day trips & weekend jaunts from Kansas City!
My daughter and I took a day trip this past fall and headed to St. Joseph in Missouri.
Not far from Kansas City (about an hour’s drive), St. Joseph has quite a few wonderful attractions that families will really enjoy! During our day-long trip, we were able to visit three of the city’s museums.
I love today’s theme for the Discover & Explore linky! Ok, I really love all of our themes but this one is really fun because we get to talk about Vacations!
I adore vacations — heading out to explore a new place, relax and reconnect with the family.
I had two amazing parents who would take us on vacation every year and we’ve continued this tradition with our kids. We make travel a priority so we save year round for our trips and take advantage of every minute we have on our trips. Traveling is such a great experience! It allows you to discover new things (foods, animals, etc) explore different cultures & areas and also learn more about yourself.
I can’t wait to see what everyone shares in the linky this week! I’d love to see great places that your family has visited, fun vacation memories or wonderful tips & ideas that make the trip special. I thought I would start off by sharing a few places that we’ve enjoyed on past trips.
One of the most popular attractions for families is the zoo. I’m not sure if it’s all the curiosity that we have about animal behavior or the fact that most of our kids act like animals so we think they’ll feel at home during their visit 😉
And June is National Zoo Month! Our last Discover & Explore linky theme was Zoos & Wild Animals and we had some great reviews of family friendly zoos that were shared.
