Enjoy an Outdoor Family Adventure {with free printable}

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Gulf County Florida. All opinions are 100% mine.

We love to go on outdoor adventures as a family!

Sometimes it's as easy as a creek walk at a local park and other times it's trying something totally new (like snorkeling) when we vacation.

No matter where we go, we always find some amazing experiences to share with our kids -- new places to hike, geological wonders -- and most important, those times that 'aren't planned but will be talked about for years' moments when we are in awe of nature.

So when the folks in Gulf County, Florida reached out and asked us if we wanted to help inspire other families to have some adventures this year, we jumped at the chance to get involved!  And also created a free printable "Get out & have an Adventure" activity for your family too!

 Outdoor Adventures for families

Enjoy an Outdoor Family Adventure

We visit our family in Florida and like to get out and explore different parts of the state.  When you visit the Gulf County Adventure Guide & you'll quickly see that this is a place where families can slow down, unplug and reconnect!  The location offers wide open spaces and many opportunities to find an adventure whether it's in the water or on a sandy beach.

Being less crowded and more natural than many other areas of the state, we really love these secluded places where we can unwind, relax and really take in the beauty around us -- AND let our kids explore nature!  There are quite a few "off the beaten path" adventures that you'll find here -- kayaking, watching wild dolphins, exploring a new beach every day and one of our favorites, learning about sea turtles!

nature adventures - sea turtle hatching

One of the items on my bucket list is to visit a beach that's home to sea turtle nests! Although I've seen sea turtles up-close on the beach, we've never had the opportunity to see babies hatch and head to the water.  I would love to take the kids on a night visit to the beach and watch the baby sea turtles head to the ocean.  St. Joseph Beach in Gulf County is home to many baby Loggerhead Turtles who hatch each spring and scramble into the warm waters.

 beach adventures with kids

One of the first things our kids always want to do when we head to Florida is visit the beach. They love to explore tide pools, scour the beach for treasures and keep a look-out for wildlife -- fish, birds, shelled creatures and even a possible dolphin sighting!  With more than 244 miles of coastline, you're sure to find some amazing shells in Gulf County.

beach adventures with kids - horseback riding as a family

Another outdoor activity that we enjoy on family vacations is horseback riding!  This is an excellent multi-generational experience and especially great for families with tweens and teens.  While we've enjoyed trail rides in the mountains, plains and through national forests, we have never had the opportunity to explore the shore by horseback - this would be awesome to do!  Taking a laid-back stroll across the unspoiled beaches sounds like a wonderful way to start or end the day.

kayaking with kids - explore new places & have an adventure

Other great family activities offered in Gulf County include fishing (both freshwater and salt water), kayaking, paddle-boarding, snorkeling, camping and exploring the hiking & biking trails.  And the best part -- your experience is NEVER THE SAME TWICE because all these adventures are nature-based (and you never know what nature will have in store for you each day :)

Not sure what type of adventure your family is up for this year?  The Gulf County concierge program makes it easy to plan your adventure!  Just choose 3 things you've never tried and the concierge will send you a list of places & attractions that fit your needs.  Ahhh ... planning made simple -- now that's a vacation! :)

And you can track your family's outdoor adventures with this free printable "Get out & have an Adventure" challenge

Print it off and see how many ways you can explore nature & the outdoors this year.

We like to take adventures off the beaten path. My family doesn't much like crowds. So all the popular places stress us out.

We'd love to go to Lake Wimico to see the wildlife and get off the beaten path. Hopefully, there's no cell coverage there either and my husband won't be able to play on his phone at all!

The local honey adventure! We have a garden we love to tend to, and have entertained the idea of beekeeping, but would be really cool to see up close!

It would definitely be a hard choice between St. Joseph Bay and Off The Beaten Path! I love the idea of the Bay because I am a sucker for anything to do with water, whether it be swimming or fishing I'm there! The other is appealing to me because ever since I was a small child my favorite hobby, and main source of stress for my parents, was to go exploring in the woods. I love to be where nobody else is and to see things that not everyone else has seen. For those reasons it would be to hard for me to decide and I would probably just find a way to book them both!

Horseback riding on the beach would be a once in a lifetime experience for sure! We always go looking for sand dollars when we are visiting the beach! It's been awhile since we were able to find one tho!
