I’m sure you’ve read at least a few of the research articles highlighting how beneficial music is in a child’s life.  Music has been shown to boost memory, enhance learning and help kids to focus on a task.

Most importantly, music is something kids enjoy!

It entices them to dance, sing along and relax — allowing them to practice large motor skills, enhance their verbal development and enjoy the world.

My kids always ask for music!  While they’re doing their chores, they play the radio.  Both have requested to play instruments way before we thought they would be ready (but given their interest and the fact that we found the right music teacher, they have really enjoyed it).

And I can’t tell you the number of musical rhymes and memorization tips we’ve used to help them with their school work (I don’t think anyone in the world can say the ABC’s without singing it 🙂

“I participated in an Influencer Activation Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Kohl’s. I received a promotional item to facilitate my review.

This week, I’ve been working with Kohl’s on their #DestinationSummer project because summer is just an awesome time to get out and do fun things with the kids!

We have one more special summer item to share and it’s about one of my favorite places on Earth — the second Disney Planes movie is coming out this summer!

I’ve always loved reindeer!  And I’ve been lucky enough to see a few in my lifetime too – many thanks to the zoos who have had them on exhibit during a visit.

I’m sure one of the reasons they are so intriguing to kids is that they’re pretty scarce where most of us live, so I thought I’d pull together a round-up of reindeer fun — facts, crafts and activities – that kids can enjoy as they explore these beautiful creatures.

I’m always so overwhelmed once the school year gets into full swing.  I think it’s coming off of those laid back summer days and then WHAM! — it seems like there’s hardly any time to relax.

One of our challenges is finding ways to mix things up to keep them fun during the school year.  The same old lunches can get boring very quickly.  Practicing spelling words and math facts is really a struggle unless you have some fun ways to keep the kids engaged.

This year, I’m thrilled to be part of the Kid Blogger Network Back to School team!  And we are all ready to help you get ready for a great school year with tips on organizing, homework help, school prep and more wonderful resources to help you ease back into school.

And then there’s all those new things the kids want to learn about — they learn a little about pengins in a science lesson and it leads to 50 new questions at dinner.  LOVE the questions but I always like to have time to explore those new topics with the kids WHILE they have that burning interest.
