Wouldn’t it be great if the kids were able to do more for themselves during the holidays?! 

I know, most parents think it would be great if the kids could do more for themselves all the time but I think it’s extra nice if it happens during the busiest time of the year. 

So we rounded up a few ideas about how to help the kids be more independent from some wonderful activities shared at the Discover & Explore Life Skills linky last week.

“Fall back” is this Saturday — yep, daylight savings time. 

I was recently thinking it would be great to have some extra time; and then I realized, we get an extra hour this weekend!

My daughter is a HUGE fan of the Percy Jackson books.  She began reading them two years ago and has continued to be fascinated with Greek Gods and mythology ever since. 

So for her 10th birthday party, she wanted to plan a Percy Jackson celebration.

There was such a wonderful variety of activities and ideas shared that I thought I would put together a planning kit for your own Under the Sea Party!

I do so love the holidays!  Yes, I know they get crazy and busy (and I never seem to get all the baking done that I would like to) but it’s a time to connect with family and reflect on all the joy that we have in our lives.

And for our family, it’s also a time to give to others.  Some years, we adopt a family and help provide them with a meal; other years, we’ll adopt an angel from a tree or donate toys to Toys for Tots.  There are so many ways to give back and make the season a joyous one for others.
