My husband will be the first to tell you that I’m the brains & braun behind our family vacations. My family grew up taking trips every summer and I knew I wanted the same for my kids — getting out to explore the world and seeing some amazing things together! But I’m also not …
Summer Fun
Summer is coming to an end and soon we’ll be dealing with schedules, homework and early bedtimes. Are you trying to squeeze in a few more fun activities before the kids go back to school? Here are a few ideas for some quick get-out-and-do-something places:
Have you ever noticed that normal sized things are boring for kids? “Want pancakes this morning?” and all I hear is “Ok.“ But if I ask “How about a pancake the size of your plate?”, then I hear “AWESOME!” Yep, size matters to kids 😉 They LOVE things that are super big or super small …
I know most people associate firecrackers with the 4th of July but kids love to see fireworks no matter the time of year!
We had some really fun ideas for easy crafts and activities shared on our Discover & Explore Patriotic Activities. These five great fireworks crafts that can be adapted for any holiday by chaning the color combinations & completed all year round!
Each summer, our kids look forward to seeing fireworks on July 4th. We have a great spot where we are able to view firework displays for 3 locations and my daughter’s favorite part is sitting on the top of the car to see them. July 4th is a great time to talk with kids about …
We are on countdown in our house — only 9 more school days left for us!
Yep, only 9 days, 4 finals, 3 school activities and 1 graduation event — then we can enjoy sleeping in, long days without schedules, fun day trips and some relaxing time to connect.
I do love summer!
Yes, some days are longer than others and the kids do get bored by mid-July — but we wouldn’t trade it for the world!
The weather’s getting warmer, the kids are out of school and the farmer’s markets are open — summer is here!
Now that the kids have been on break for a few weeks, the initial excitement of summer has worn off and we are all looking for some fun things to do.
The goal parents: to fight off the dreaded “I’m bored” comment and keep them away from the screen long enough to make a few memories.
And boy do we have a list for you — the Ultimate Kansas City Bucket List for summer fun!
“I participated in an Influencer Program on behalf of Mom Central for Revolution Foods. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for participating.”
There’s something about lunch and summertime that just doesn’t seem to jive in our house.
During the school year, my husband takes on the lunch duties with some help from the kids (they pack their own fruit & snack each day). So sandwiches are always prepared the night before (I have a great hubby!).
Then summer hits and the idea of doing something in advance goes out the window for me 🙂
I mean, it’s summer, right?! No schedules, live-by-the-seat-of-your-pants type of days.
This content is sponsored by Kohl’s as a part of their #DestinationSummer campaign. Although this is a sponsored post, all opinions (and crazy comments) are always my own.
This week, I’m excited to be working with Kohl’s and some truly amazing bloggers on the #DestinationSummer project.
In addition to their Pinterest Virtual Road Trip, Kohl’s also has a great in store campaign taking place this summer called “FindYourYes”.
The idea is to find what matters to you.
For us parents, a huge ‘Yes’ is our kids.
But while I was watching the #FindYourYes video and thinking about my kids, I began to wonder – what’s their “Yes”; what are the things that matter to my kids?
We know it’s coming — the heat of summer is creeping in and soon we will all be seeking out the comforts of shade and air-conditioning. For the kids, they would much rather run under a sprinkler or enjoy some ‘cool’ water play!
This week’s feature posts from the Discover & Explore Summer Fun linky won’t disappoint! There are TONS of great ideas for keeping cool on those hot summer days!
