Grab this free Earth Day Scavenger Hunt printable activity and inspire kids to learn more about our environment!

April is a great time to teach our kids about going green, eco-friendly behaviors and ways they can help the environment.

When we were young, environmental issues weren't as well discussed or researched -- now, our kids learn about them in school as part of the curriculum and are inspired to do small things that will benefit the Earth.

Today's activity -- an Earth Day (or Month) Scavenger Hunt -- mixes both the How & Why of choosing to 'go green'!

Tornado in a Bottle Science Experiment

Tornado in a Bottle Science Experiment

Upcycle items from around the house for this easy tornado in a bottle science experiment!

Sometimes an activity can introduce us to something that we aren't able to experience in real life and today's science project does just that!

Spring brings all kinds of weather across the country and one of the worst types of storms are tornadoes.

Living in Kansas, we've had to duck-and-cover quite a few times, huddling in the basement until the storm sirens sound the all clear but thankfully, we have never been caught in a tornado!

But kids will be kids and ask all those great questions -- 'how do tornadoes start?' and 'what makes them so dangerous?' so we thought we'd take a closer look at these storms by creating our own tornado in a bottle!

15 Animal Math Activities

15 Animal Math Activities

Fun animal-themed math games and activities that helps kids learn counting, sorting, graphing & measurement skills!

Math has always been an issue at our house.

My son LOVES math!  We were constantly looking for fun ways to expand on different math concepts that he enjoyed because he was always working ahead in that area.

Now my daughter -- NOT a lover of traditional math at all :)

Worksheets & math books make her cringe.

But she really enjoys hands-on activities and reading so my goal has always been to find interesting ways to engage her (read that: trick her, as she would say) into doing more math.

Math is one of those things that requires daily practice -- BUT it doesn't have to be the boring do-a-worksheet kind of practice.

There are a lot of fun ways to integrate math into fun activities so kids are not only learning but also having a great time while they play!

Getting to know nature and being a backyard detective are activities my kids have enjoyed for years.

And having great science tools takes outdoor exploration to a whole new level!

It's amazing to see the wonder and hear the questions when kids can get up close with bugs, plants, trees and even wildlife.

So I love to have kid-sized science tools for them to use -- ones that are sturdy and don't need much supervision so kids can go off and explore on their own.
