I'm not going to lie to you -- I don't do tents!
Sorry, there's just something about a thin piece of material and the possibility of bears or snakes in the area that kinda freaks me out!
But camping doesn't always mean tents. We've had some great family vacations while 'roughing it' in a cabin.
If there's a solid door and an indoor bathroom, I'm a much happier camper ;)
Other things that I love about camping -- the connection to nature! We spent a week in a cabin this summer with NO tv, NO internet and horses & deer out our window.
Plus, there was a sleeping porch for the kids.
Now this is camping! And all those things hanging on the wall? Those are paper plates with drawings from each family that has stayed at the cabin over the years! Instead of watching tv, we spent a few nights reading all the notes that were left over the last 30 years.
I also love the smell of a campfire and how you can wear the same clothes the next day and no one cares! Playing cards in the evening and taking hikes during the day are big hits with our family too.
And the kids -- their favorite part of camping would have to be the campfires!
And of course, the s'mores!
